It is the computer-assisted planning of the patient’s facial structure before orthognathic surgery. Data obtained from CBCT, 3D dental scans and photographs are combined digitally, and the operation is planned on a virtual patient.

Within 1-2 business days after your splints are shipped, you receive an e-mail with tracking details; they are delivered to your address so you can try them on the patient before surgery.

The criteria to be met before surgery:

• Upper and lower incisor inclinations should be within ideal limits relative to their occlusal planes.
• Upper and lower arch widths should be compatible with each other.
• Upper and lower molar torques should be within ideal limits.
• Curves of Spee should be levelled.
• The lower dental midline should coincide with the lower skeletal midline.
• The upper dental midline should be within ± 2 mm of the facial midline.
• Third molars should be extracted at least 5-6 months before surgery.
• If a segmental maxillary osteotomy is planned, the upper archwire should be sectioned into 3 pieces at least 4 months before surgery.
• Tooth shapes should be ideal; missing cusps should be restored prosthetically before surgery if necessary.
• When the models are brought into occlusion, maximum intercuspation with an ideal overjet and overbite should be achieved.
• Surgical archwires should be placed at least 1 month before surgery.
• Patients with temporomandibular disorders are advised to receive at least 4-6 months of splint therapy and physiotherapy before surgery.

We recommend taking the records at least 2 weeks before surgery. This leaves enough time for the planning, the joint evaluation of the patient, and the production and shipping of the splints. The success of 3D digital planning is directly proportional to the precision of the records.
